The philosophy is simple, with enough eyes all bugs are shallow. There is also the issue that many in the open source community believe that it is a software owner’s right to know how their product is built. There could never be a rule for example banning people from seeing how their fridge worked so why does that rule apply to software?

Open source content management systems such a Drupal have opened up the world of web design to the casual user. Now it is possible to build your own website, be it a simple blog or something a little more adventurous, with no previous programming experience. Drupal is an open source content management platform that powers millions of websites and applications, many that have been designed by relative novices.

Drupal is built, used, and supported by an active and diverse community of people from all corners of the globe. Working together as a community means that jobs that would normally have been complicated and costly receive the benefit of experts from around the world. Never has the proverb that many hands make light work been more relevant! Just like countless other open source projects such as the operating system Ubuntu, Drupal offers users an alternative to big mainstream corporations such as Microsoft or Apple and gives amateurs and enthusiasts the opportunity to really flex their muscles.
